The Mission of Smoky Valley Library District (SVLD) is to meet the informational, recreational, and cultural needs of the people of SVLD and the surrounding area. Also, adhere to the “Minimum Public Library Standards for Nevada.”
Round Mountain Public Library (RMPL) and Manhattan Public Library (MPL) are committed to providing free and current information and library materials in a pleasant atmosphere.
We will challenge censorship, support community programs and cultural activities of our area.
Special emphasis will be placed on supporting formal and informal education through the community college level, providing reference service, and introducing preschoolers to a lifetime of reading and library use.
The purpose of this policy is to state briefly the criteria and responsibility for materials selection and to outline procedures to be followed in the cases of challenge to materials.
